| Jeg har vært på Island! Og i motsetning til forrige tur som gikk til solfylte Dubai i kolde februar, dro vi denne gangen fra solfylte Oslo til kolde og forblåste Reykjavik.Vi kjøpte flybillett Oslo-Reykjavik til 1500,- og var særs fornøyde med at vi hadde gjort et varp. Det faktum at Island er et land som er hakket dyrere enn Norge, hadde gått i glemmeboka, så det ble ikke så billig det så ut til likevel. På tross av skrinn økonomi, ble det en finfin tur med Ida, Preben, Cathrine og Lise.Da vi ankom sent på kveld på fredag, ble vi tatt imot av Freslesarmeen i Reykjavik og innlosjert på et 5-manns rom med bibel og fader vår rammet inn på veggen. Det var det billigste i byen, så vi overlevde bilder av mennesker med glorie og vann som luktet svovel. På lørdag var det på tide å teste ut Reykjaviks beryktede uteliv, som var vel så bra som ryktene skulle ha det til. En amerikansk geolog stoppet innom rommet vårt for å være med på pre-party og fikk villig servert Ruskij Standard. Byturen endte lenge etter at solen hadde stått opp og da følte vi at vi var festbremsene i byen! Reykjavik fnyste nok av vår patetiske innsats som festløver og håner det faktum at vi dro hjem fra byen så tidlig som seks-syv tiden.Vi var innom og spiste middag både hos familien Ida var au-pair hos og familien som Cathrine bodde med. Ida viste at hun virkelig elsker Island ved å ta den guidede turen “Golden circle” med oss for 5. gang på fire år. Vi var innom Gullfoss, Geysir og Strokkur samt Thingvellir, stedet hvor amerikaplaten møter eurasiaplaten. Skikkelig turrist tur med andre ord.
Uti uka forlot vi Frelsesarmeen til fordel for Vestmanneyar. En 3 timers båttur i hva som føltes som liten storm lå foran oss, og det skulle bli en heisatur for flere av oss. Etter ekstrem konsentrasjon i en time, forsvant én etter én fra salongen og ut på do. Sjøsyken var et faktum fra de første minuttene utenfor moloen. Men Etter en fæl overfart, var vi endelig på Vestmanneyar. Den første dagen red vi på islandshest over lavaen fra utbruddet i 1973 og fikk vite at her lå huset til guiden vår. Han pekte ned på lavaen og vi fikk vite at det gamle huset hans lå begravet i lava ti meter under oss. Dagen etter gikk vi på vulkanen Eldfjell som begravde én femtedel av byen i 1973, og der steg det fortsatt røyk opp fra deler av krateret! Eksotisk!
Vel tilbake i Reykjavik, tok vi fatt på den siste av turistfellene, nemlig Blue Lagoon. En varm kilde med vann oppvarmet av jordens indre hvor det føles som man bader i varm melk. Veldig rar opplevelse som visst skulle være bra for huden. Alt i alt en opplevelsesrik tur til et land med heftig uteliv, varme kilder og ulmende vulkaner.
