Vi kjørte fra Grand Canyon mot Las Vegas og stoppet innom Hoover Dam på veien dit. Ikke mye å si om Hoover Dam egentlig, bortsett fra at det er en forba#!% stor demning. På veien tok vi inn på et hotell i Boulder City hvor vi fikk vår første smak på gambling og hvor surt det er å tape pengene sine i poker.
På mandag kjørte vi inn til Las Vegas og sjekket inn på hotellet vi skulle tilbringe våre 4 netter i Vegas - Hooters hotell. Tord og Elisabeth tok turen over dammen, så vi hentet dem på flyplassen (som forsåvidt er gangavstand fra Hooters…) og fikk shippet dem inn på MGM Grand (misunnelig!). Tirsdag var Tord sin gebursdag, så vi gikk ut og spiste en bedre middag på toppen av Stratosphere Tower med utsikt over hele byen. De nyankomne led av lett jet-lag, så det ble ikke den store festen den dagen. Ida fikk derimot sin første smak på gambling i form av en slot-maskin som het Geisha og som tok 1 cent per spill. Hun ble sittende ved den til en dame kom bort og registrerte Ida med medlemskort på Casinoet. Ida VS Casinoet: 1-0. Jenta begynte med 1 dollar og gikk fra favorittmaskinen sin med 30 dollar.
Neste dag derimot, ble en heidundranes kule. Jeg husker en lystig gjeng stemte i og ropte i munnen på hverandre “Ja! Fylleringe til Norge!”. God Ide med Amerikansk kontantkort. Senere den samme kvelden skulle lykken intreffe i form av Karl mot MGM Grand: 1-0
Preben og jeg kom sjanglende til et mutt Hold’em bord på MGM ved tre tiden (hvem vet egentlig hva klokken egentlig var) og gutta på bordet må ha tenkt med seg selv ”Like shooting fish in a barrel”. 15 minutter og 40 dollar fattigere gikk jeg til minibanken - igjen. Men så sto lykken meg bi. Jeg var Mr. Hollywood himself og klarte å lure med meg en stakkar da jeg traff straight’n paa floppen. Han visste ikke hva som traff ham og jeg håvet inn en nydelig pott. Spilte super-tight resten av natten og Preben og jeg ble edrue mens vi spilte. 08:00 gikk vi ut fra Casinoet og møtte Nevada ørkenen’s stekende sol. Ett par hundre dollar rikere.

Hehe, blir glad av sånne historier. Nordmannen som kommer sjanglende inn og lærer de barka gamblerne litt om hva flaks er. Ser for meg at du var dyrisk fornøyd etterpå.
Var relativt fornoyd da jeg kom ut og saa solen ja. Fikk fisket ut over 1000 kroner fra Vegas. Foles bare godt. Ida likte ogsaa aa loppe vegas med nesten 3000% fortjeneste.
