Eventyrets siste kapittel: Sør-Afrika

Vi har bare vaert 9 dager i Sør-Afrika, men vi har opplevd saa mye at det føles ut som mer. Hadde en ganske treg start med daarlig vaer og lite som skjedde. Vi startet i Port Elizabeth en ganske stor 45 min flytur fra Johannesburg (eller Jo.burg som alle kaller det). Port Elizabeth ligger i Nelson Mandela Bay og er en ganske fin, men veldig stille by. Vi hadde bare planlagt en natt her, saa dagen etter dro vi videre med BazBus til Jeffreys Bay (J-Bay). Vi hadde faatt anbefalt stedet av Preben, og at dette vanligvis er paradis paa jord er vi ikke i tvil om. Problemet var daarlig vaer med regn og sterk vind som gjorde at vi ikke kunne bade eller ta surfetimer. Vi brukte tiden paa aa ligge inne og se paa havet gjennom store panoramavinduer og shoppe paa Billabong Factory Outlet (og ja, vi maatte kjøpe en ny Billabong Duffelbag for aa faa med oss alt videre)
Vaeret saa ikke ut til aa forandre seg, saa vi dro videre en dag tidligere enn planlagt. BazBusen hadde ikke plass til oss lengre enn til Knysna, men det viste seg aa vaere et lykketreff. Vi fikk ri paa elefant! Elefanter facinerende store og det var veldig morro aa ri. Om kvelden arrangerte hostellet tur i solnedgangen og grilling etterpaa. Det var utrolig hyggelig og vi fikk snakket med mange Sør-Afrikanere som akkurat hadde startet sommerferien sin.
Etter en hel dag paa BazBus inn til Cape Town og en natt paa hostell fikk vi endelig følelsen av aa vaere i Afrika. Vi dro paa Safari i Aquila Game Park, et 4500 hektar stort omraade der dyrene vandrer fritt omkring der de vil. Der fikk vi sett 4 av de 5 store; elefant, neshorn, bøffel og løve. De hadde leopard ogsaa, men de holder seg saa langt unna mennesker som de kan. Opplevelsen med løvene var den største. Vi satt tre meter unna to hunnløver og en stor og elegant hannløve. Samtidig satt Game-rangeren og fortalte at hans beste venn ble drept av løve bare for tre aar siden. De er uforutsigbare dyr som dreper mennsker i private parker hvert aar. Vi fikk ogsaa ganske stor respekt for de andre dyrene, rangeren hadde ogsaa sett en familiefar blitt røsket ut av bilen av en elefant da han prøvde aa klappe den da elefanten gikk forbi. Mannen ble slengt mellom to biler mens familien og de andre turistene ikke kunne gjøre annet enn aa se paa. Det hjelper heller ikke med vaapen da ingen av de fem store er saarbare for ett skudd, og mer enn ett rekker man sannsynligvis ikke. Vi saa ogsaa mange andre mindre dyr og fikk komme inn og klappe tamme geparder. Min absolutte favoritt var gjødselsbilla som triller kona si og huset sitt som er en liten ball med gjødsel:) Og visste dere forresten at strutsen ikke stikker hodet sitt i bakken naar den blir redd?
Samme kveld var vi oppe paa Table Mountain i fikk sett en nydelig utsikt over byen og sola som gikk ned i havet.
Dag to i Cape Town var det tid for vinsmaking. Sammen med en flink guide og et svenskt par kjørte innom 4 forskjellige vingaarder. Det ble mye vin, og alle fire var ganske susne i hodet før klokka tolv:) Etter det var det vanskelig aa kjenne forksjell paa god og daarlig vin, men morro var det likevel. Vingaardene vi var innom var Fariview som ogsaa hadde masse gode oster, Backsberg som ogsaa hadde en delikat liten sjokoladebutikk, Beyerskloof der vi spiste lunsj i grønne omgivelser og Karl jobbet hardt for aa faa tak i et svart forkle med logoen paa og til sist Villiera der vi fikk komme inn i fabrikken og se hele prosessen til hvordan vinen ble laget. Naar det gjelder vin i seg selv laerte vi at Pinotage er noe vi liker:)
For flere maaneder siden hadde vi bestilt hotell til de siste to nettene. Karl sa det var et billig hotell og sikkert ikke saerlig bedre enn hostellet. Der tok han feil, for dette viste seg aa ha fire stjerner og vaere det fineste noen av oss har bodd paa noen gang.
Dag tre i Cape Town dro vi paa en rundtur utenfor byen og ned mot Cape Peak. Vi har vaert paa Kapp det Gode Haap og sett hvor Det Indiske hav møter Atlanterhavet. Det var mye vind, mektige krefter i havet og et dramatisk landskap. Paa veien stoppet vi og fikk sett den Afrikanske Pingvinen i Boulder Bay. Masse morsomme pingviner paa en forblaast strand, Karl ble ganske god venn med en av dem. Vi fikk ogsaa sett en flokk med Bavianer som satt og slappet av langs veien. Favorlitten var en liten apebaby som lekte med en ølflaske.
Naa har vi altsaa kommet til siste dag i det siste kapitlet av det 4 mnd lange eventyret. Det er 34 grader her i Cape Town og vi koser oss stort i sola. Gleder oss likevel til aa komme hjem til jul og minusgrader og snøhuletur i januar. Har 4 timer igjen før vi drar ut til flyplassen, og vi krysser fingrene for at Cape Town - London - København - Oslo - Trondheim skal gaa uten taake, is, streik og andre farer som vi akkurat har lest paa nettet at kan forsinke flytrafikken. Med “Driving home for Chrismas” paa mp3-spilleren (takk Frederic) er det i hvert fall ikke noe aa si paa julestemninga. Sees i Norge om 30 timer.
